What's your favourite non-insomniac Spyro game?

If you don't count the original trilogy, which Spyro game is your favourite- be it from the classic, Legend or Skylanders series?

For me, I think it would have to be Spyro: Adventure (Attack of the Rhynocs outside the PAL region) for the GBA. I love this game, from its levels to the music to the dialogue. It seems hardly anyone talks about this game, which is a shame because it really is a hidden gem.

A Hero's Tail. It was the most competently made console game after the Insomniac Trilogy, even if there had been some design flaws galore in that game. At least nothing was broken ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sup, guys? My name is BitCritterSpyro, an OG of this forum, and a HUGE Spyro fan. I'm so much so that some may consider me a fanboy :-P

But I also love the Spyro water levels. Sometimes I consider myself part fish. BLOOB :fish:

The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night.
The second game in the Legends series, it improved upon what A New Beginning was experimenting with.
Combat was slightly refined, and gave Spyro a, sort of unique, ability to give him an advantage when fighting mobs of enemies, which is a popular trend in the series.
I don't know how I feel about how they changed what each ability did in each game, but TEN had a good mix of abilities to use, while some in ANB were moreover utility.
The story is the best and worst in TEN, as it had the most amount of potential to tell a story, especially to elongate Cynder's redemption arc, which would be pushed off until Dawn of The Dragon, which does not do her any favors.

Overall, the game is my favorite because of the concept, not quite because of the execution.

For me it would be the Legend Series as a whole generally because I liked that they attempted to make Spyro much more story directed. If I had to rate the entries in said series, would be TEN, DoTD then ANB, but I enjoy them all for what they offer. Never got into the Skylander series and the other non-insomniac games just didn't have the spirit of the originals, even though they certainly tried. Just wish the Legend series got more appropriate development time, especially in the final entry.

If I’m being honest, Enter The Dragonfly has to be one of my favorites aside from Attack of The Rhynocs. I know Enter The Dragonfly is a broken, unfinished game but it does try to be a Spyro game and it wasn’t its developers’ fault it was rushed that dishonor belongs to Universal Interactive. It’s honestly why I would love to see Enter The Dragonfly remade and completed tbh.
Spyro is the coolest dragon of all time! Also, Insomniac Games are the greatest game developers of all time!

A Hero's Tail. I have good memories playing that game and even to this day, I find it just as fun to replay as the PS1 games.

General Spyro eh, aside of the In Trilogy? (Yet to finish the original Spyro the Dragon), A Hero's Tail, The three Legend of Spyro Games (The GBA and DS versions of A New Beginning are my favorite versions) and Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure.

Spyro: A Hero's Tail and Spyro: Season of Flame have to be my favorite and most underrated non-Insomniac Spyro games. A Hero's Tail may have been flawed, but it was still a fun game regardless.
Major Classic Spyro fan since 2000.
