So the Skylanders creator is making Reignited

I am excited and I find it ironic. X3

After years of getting negative backlash on the Skylanders franchise from Spyro fans, Toys For Bob are now getting positive feedback and love.

Funny how the game developer who kickstarted the toys-to-life spinoff franchise are the same one who are remastering the original Spyro trilogy.

Well, I'm sure they have always been well aware of Spyro's past popularity. I'm pretty sure that's the big reason why the chose to create the franchise around the property, as it served as a good base for them to expand out from. I've never been very high on the Skylanders Series and always trend toward the belief Spyro is at his best in his own franchise. I'm not down on folks who enjoy Skylanders but to me it was always a bit of an injustice because the focus would never really be on the Spyro character, instead just featuring him because of his popularity. They do keep a pretty heavy focus on him in the TV series because that reaches a much more broad audience then the individual video games do, and Spyro is still the most popular draw.

I just think that they saw the opportunity after the success of the remastered Crash games to really cash in on the original model. I don't think they have any intention of doing anything beyond that, but who knows. I really do hope it shows that Spyro in his traditional focus is still a massive draw for individual titles.

Hopefully it succeeds and we get more OG Spyro games! (Especially a completed Enter The Dragonfly)
Spyro is the coolest dragon of all time! Also, Insomniac Games are the greatest game developers of all time!

Good stuff, glad they respect the source and see it as different from the Skylander version. Eager to see another trailer to see what else they might have in mind in terms of extra content.

New Activision blog on Toys For Bob. Toys For Bob’s Paul Yan talks about working at the studio, and why both Spyro veterans and newcomers alike will enjoy Spyro Reignited Trilogy when it glides in on September 21.
