How were you introduced to Spyro?

How did you first get into the Spyro franchise? For me, I got the first Spyro game for Christmas in 1998. I didn't even know anything about it or even ask for it- my parents just saw it while they were Christmas shopping and thought I would like it as it looked cute and they knew I liked dragons. I was hooked on the game from Christmas day onwards, and so was the rest of my family. Spyro quickly overtook Sonic the hedgehog as my childhood game character and the purple dragon has been my favourite ever since. Not bad considering I had spent right up to Christmas day actually hyped for Crash 3 and nothing else, which we also received that Christmas
