According to Spyro 3 designer Brian Allgeier, there was a page in the atlas planned for recorded entries of the baby dragons you rescue and tell short bios, like their name, breed, favorite color, etc.

I would love to see something like a "bio atlas" in the next Spyro game.

collecting little bits of information about your friends, foes and the worlds you've visited would certainly make the game feel a whole lot more alive to me.
