According to Lead concept artist Jared Pullen, the devs considered Jeremy Irons (the voice of Scar from The Lion King) to voice Ignitus.

So he was goign to voice Ignitus? Well, I'm more used to hear Gary Oldman, I wonder how Jeremy Iron was going to sound as Ignitus.

Wow. But here is a fact for you.
Both Voices have been in a Batman related movie
Irons as Alfred in Batman v Superman DoJ
and Oldman as Commissioner Gordan in the Dark Knight Trilogy
So either way Spyro has a connection to Batman.
I don't know if that is cool or not.
