Here’s why:
1. The characters were made unbearable and/or ruined! (Except Sgt. Byrd, he’s still fine)
2. The game basically stripped Spyro of any originality his series still had
3. The game was not funny unlike the games before it
4. It was so mediocre
5. The main collectibles didn’t mean much
In Conclusion: Skylanders and TLOS are better then a Hero’s Tail
Whilst I would agree that AHT is definitely flawed, I personally still find it a very fun game to play. Sure, some of the dialogue is cringeworthy, and I don't think much of having to play every mini game twice (especially Blink's), but they game has some great ideas too, and the music is pretty good.
Still, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I can understand why some people wouldn't like this game.
Gotta hand it to being the most functional Spyro game after the OG trilogy, though. It definitely isn't the worst game in the world, but I will agree that I was surprised about point #2. It took me a while to get used to the new direction of this game, but when I did, it wasn't as bad for me as Enter the Dragonfly turned out to be for me down the line.
Meh, to me it's a toss up between AHT and ETD but I can generally just ignore those kinda things. Was never very found of the game boy entries as well, as much as I enjoy the idea of Crash and Spyro interacting.
A decent game in my eyes, but at least for me collecting is more easier for me. The Dialogue for me doesn't bother me that much Spyro the Dragon dialouge has been a hit or miss for me. Disapointing Spyro game for me was Shadow Legacy on the DS, yeah that game was mildly bad.
Poor Bentley was dumbed down in this game, allowing hostile Yetis to drive him out of his home and he doesn't have his ice club with him.

omg so much facts thoooooo
The dialogue was opposite of fun in some places. I wonder how/if the Mermaid dialogue even got approved before being put in.

It's still more finished than ETD though, and it's not as easy to ruin a save.
At least this game is better and a little more polished than ETD. I do admit some of the level designs are pretty awful along with the dialogue being cringey, but I still think it played fine and is one of a few good Spyro games released between the Classic trilogy and the Legend trilogy.
I just wish they hadn't tried so hard to be funny. A lot of the humour is very forced and the game breaks the 4th wall a bit too often.
